 Wishing Tree Program

Coordinating the Wishing Tree Program at the Fox West YMCA was a very rewarding experience. I was fortunate to witness the generosity of our Y employees and members. I still remember the woman who came in one afternoon right before Christmas. She handed a check to Member Services and asked if they could give it to the coordinator of the Y’s holiday Giving Tree Program. She said it was to help families in need. I was amazed to see it was from a woman whose home had burned to the ground about five years ago. Her family lost everything that year and our Y adopted them in the Giving Tree program. This was the second holiday season her family gave back to the Giving Tree Program. She told me that “God willing,” she will continue giving back to the Y because the Y was there for her family when they needed it.
